WHAT TO BRING

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome!

I’d like to invite you to the ROGerKimLee Music Festival on August 15-17, 2025, which represents our musical identity & vibe.

Last year, our festival was an extraordinary homegrown event thanks to incredible community involvement. My commitment to developing & expanding the festival is steadfast & I hope to honour Roger, Kim, & Lee’s love for music.

I look forward to developing friendships, sponsorships, and partnerships for this year’s festival and festivals to come.

Derrick Cundy/McCandless
ROGerKimLee Music Festival Director

Mission Statement:  ROGerKimLee Music Festival (RKL) creates a memorable and immersive live music experience within an intimate west interlake prairie community. We aim to showcase youth, local and regional talent, foster artistic collaboration and innovation, and provide a platform for Indigenous and cultural exchange. Music is a powerful force for positive change and social cohesion, and we are honored to share that with our festival friends.

Vision Statement:  RKL is a self-sustaining live music arts festival providing a three-day outdoor destination event attracting 2000 participants.  We are inspiring our community through progressive initiatives: in sustainable practices, environmental stewardship, in ethnic and Indigenous artist inclusion. RKL contributes to the financial and creative livelihood of the arts community and supports a Youth Roots Music Program.  A part time paid local admin staff with the large volunteer team will help ensure the building of long-term initiatives which has a generational impact for years to come.

RKL through music and the arts is creating opportunities to celebrate, to bridge geographical, ethnic, cultural and Indigenous differences and to encourage new ways of relating.

Mandate: We are committed to ensuring the safety, accessibility and sustainability of our festival.

In Memory

This festival started off as a means of honouring three musicians, friends, and initiators of music in Manitoba. Roger Young, Kim Russell, and Lee Oreniuk. They were all individuals who shared a passion for music, and it is after all, what brings people together.
